About Paul Borg Antiques

“Our admiration of the antique is not an admiration of the old, but the natural" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

An antique is defined as an old and valuable collectable item usually at least 100 years old. It is sought-after particularly because of its age, beauty, rarity or unique characteristics. It usually shows a degree of craftsmanship.

The collecting of antique furniture, including dining tables, chairs, bureaus, chests of drawers, is a very popular area of antiques.

Antiques have been the lifeblood of the Borg family for many years now. Paul Borg Antiques was established in 1945 by the late Paul Borg. He began his business by buying antique Maltese chests of drawers for as little as five Maltese liri.

After a few years, he continued to expand his business by going abroad to the United Kingdom, Italy and France to buy and sell antique continental furniture.

His sons, who have carried on the family business, remember a time when their stores were full of examples of antique Maltese furniture… which today are nearly impossible to find.

They are proud to say that their firm Paul Borg Antiques was one of the first of its kind in the Maltese Islands.

Nowadays, in their shop, one can find all types of genuine antique Maltese, French, Italian and English furniture, as well as paintings, fine porcelain, silverware and much more.

If you would like to sample first-hand the quality of the antiques that they stock, visit Paul Borg Antiques, situated in Naxxar Road, Birkirkara.
